Funding Requests - Major Gifts and Community Support Programs

The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club supports numerous local community organizations with funds each year through its Major Gift and Community Support programs. Please note the different levels of funding for each program and choose accordingly.

 

Community Support Program


Funding available: not more than $5,000 per organization each year (typical gifts are from $250 to $3,000)
Timeframe for requests: ongoing, with requests evaluated at monthly Board meetings
Restrictions: Rotary does not provide funding for general operating expenses or fundraising campaigns; we do not fund individuals seeking sponsorships for charitable events

Information to include in your request:


• Organization name, mailing address, physical address
• Contact person, telephone, email, fax, Web site
• Organization's purpose
• Geographic coverage area
• Specific funding amount requested (not more than $5,000)
• Other funds already secured in support of the same project
• Intended use of funds and anticipated benefits, including number of people directly served
• Plans to provide credit to Rotary for funding, through media coverage, site signage, program advertising, etc.

Requests for funds are reviewed monthly and the Rotary Club will be in touch with you once your request has been discussed.


Major Gift Program


Funding available: between $5,000 and $30,000
Timeframe for requests: requests received and evaluated November-April; site visits in April-May; awards made in June
Restrictions: Rotary does not provide funding for general operating expenses or fundraising campaigns. The Rotary Major Gift program is not designed for multi-year donations. The Major Gift should not be identified with any governmental body or individual.

Please address the following questions and topics in your Major Gift proposal:


• The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club Major Gift is designed to have a major impact on the Saratoga Springs community at large. Tell us about your organization, including location, charter, population currently served (including demographics if available), as well as how your organization is funded.
• Give details on the project for which you request Rotary’s support: What is it? Who will benefit from it? When will it be complete? If there are written plans and cost estimates available, please provide copies.
• What amount of funding are you requesting? What percentage of your project will be funded by our donation? What are your plans should you receive less than the requested amount? Do you have an alternative funding plan should you not receive our Major Gift?
• What recognition will Rotary receive if you are awarded a Major Gift?
• What oversight will Rotary have to guarantee the funds are used properly and for the approved project?
